The 29th episode of the "Marauder Shields" Mass Effect comic.

In this one... A fan-favorite character launches herself against impossible odds, while the skies light up with rage.

This is an ongoing story providing an alternative fan-made ending to the Mass Effect story, with a single game-changing maverick transforming the course of history: Marauder Shields. Be sure to start reading at episode 6.

Awesome interview. I think we grew up on the same diet^^

Awesome story as well. My heart really goes out to Jack for her loss. Caring for the kids changed her so much, in a good way, losing them should definitely sent he rinto a frenzy.

This may turn into a long-winded rant, but... the only outcome I can accept here is Jack's victory. In a lot of ways, I'd daresay she embodies humanity in the Mass Effect universe (and, to a certain lesser extent, in almost all sci-fi). Consider the themes of her character arc in the second game. Overcoming the past. Defining yourself as you see fit. Making yourself into something more than the sum of the parts the universe put into you. Redemption, if you're feeling like a romantic. Becoming part of "the team" and achieving more for having done it. If that's not humankind- hell, if that's not the entire **galaxy**- in this series, I don't rightly know what is.

And what's it say about humanity, about the forces arrayed against the Reapers... if this exemplar of all their strengths fails to walk away from this fight? Just food for thought :P

And really... it does make for really excellent drama if this is the way Jack's story ends. Emotionally gutting, Pyrrhic to the letter, and with a hell of an explosion to seal the deal. I can definitely understand the reasons for either outcome.
