Marauder Shields 35: Plan B (Mass Effect) by koobismo Marauder Shields 35: Plan B (Mass Effect) by koobismo
The 35th Episode of the "Marauder Shields" Mass Effect Comic.

In this one... Plans are put into motion aboard the Crucible, with three different agendas clashing to decide the fate of this Cycle.

AFTERWORD

A weird episode

This episode is a weird one - it's been planned out as a setup episode for three different storylines, it introduces two new OC characters - Professor Irving (previously mentioned in Episode 28) and Marcus Strieland (previously unmentioned) and provides us with the weirdest codex portion ever (though not as meaningless as you might think after glancing over it).

If that's not enough - the whole thing has a few little eye winks and hints towards our future reveals spread around it's story, dialogues and codex. Reading it twice might be a good idea for all those of you who like to weave their own theories about where MS is headed. ;)

Hope that despite it's weirdness, weird new character (the mask-wearing batshit crazy Irving), weird pacing, weird music selection and overally weird tone you'll be able enjoy it nonetheless! The next episode will be a bit closer to my heart and to our standards. ;)

GENERAL INFORMATION

This is an ongoing story providing an alternative fan-made ending to the Mass Effect trilogy, with our own game-changing maverick transforming the course of history: Marauder Shields. Be sure to start reading at episode 6. Special thanks to MichelKobayashi and my awesome team, especially our editor - AdoreeLyssa!

Hope is Alive!

[The Mass Effect universe, its design and characters are owned by BioWare/EA Productions. This is a work of parody and fan-fiction, created under the terms of fair use. Special thanks to BioWare for creating the world we all love and care for! I remain a huge ME & BW fan!]

P.S. Help me spread this series around - retweet, send out links, share this with your friends and post it on your facebook wall!

I've always had a problem with the "gun to the head" stand-off and it isn't quite the threat to Jacob that one might think. First there is reaction time. Basically, anyone with gun training "should" know that you don't get withing several feet of who your pointing the gun at or they might just take it away from you. This is why I HATE Thane's death. The other thing worth mentioning is that Jacob has biotic shields. As a matter of fact he is the only one in ME2 with that specific power, which is why I originally chose him for holding the shield on the Collector base. Which of course was the "wrong" choice.

Really curious how your going to have this play out.

By the way, has anyone else noticed how often the characters in ME3 can commit suicide? Forgetting for a moment that the original ending had Shepard committing suicide, there are several other characters who could proceed him. The possibles I know about are Mordin, Samara, Tali, Legion and yes I'm including Thane. There may be others who actively take their own lives that I haven't run across.

I mean no offense but that human dude in the third panel has absurdly strange cheekbones. Might be the angle, i dunno.
But yes, the Crucible being from Reaper origins/designs makes so much more sense than thousands of civilisations managing to make and keep stashes of information safe for the next 50,000 years.
A creepy but good codex bit there.

Man i know its completely imposible to do, but it would be so awesome if your ending could somehow be modded into the game.....

It's in it's infancy, but choreography mods are possible. Look up ME3 MEEM. It's a custom mod that replaces the canon Starchild conversation, with original content as well as fan-made voice acting.

It's not the best there is, by far. But it's the fact that fans accomplished it, that makes it great.

Unless BioWare let us (which is not going to happen), we won't be able to do that. Mass Effect games are not modder friendly.

Since Marauder Shields contains a lot of backstories (related to Cerberus, Nhylus..), adding them all to the end of the game is not very appealing.

Still it would be awesome if we could do it. UnrealEngine is a pretty easy engine and all the assets we need for MS are already there. So if they ever release the mod tools, this could become a reality.
